Organizers: African Institute for Sustainable Energy and Systems Analysis (AISESA), AKADEMIYA2063, and the National Academy of Sciences and Techniques of Senegal (ANTS)
Africa faces a unique set of energy and development challenges ranging from energy poverty and weak institutions to high financing costs and climate vulnerability. As part of its commitment to fostering African-owned, African-led approach rooted in research, inclusion, and systems thinking for sustainable energy, The African Institute for Sustainable Energy and Systems Analysis (AISESA), in collaboration with AKADEMIYA2063, and the National Academy of Sciences and Techniques of Senegal (ANTS), will host the 2nd AISESA Congress in Saly, Senegal, from September 16–19, 2025.
The 2nd AISESA Congress will bring together young and early-career researchers, scientists, scholars, and practitioners to engage in open, inclusive dialogue on the future of sustainable energy and systems analysis in Africa and the Global South. This congress will feature interactive sessions designed to:
• Reflect on research and professional journeys in sustainability and energy systems.
• Explore the challenges and opportunities facing the next generation of African thinkers and doers.
• Strengthen networks and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Co-imagine future pathways for leadership, innovation, and influence in climate and energy policy.
The congress will also serve as a platform for a continuing process of knowledge exchange, capacity building, and collective action.
